EMPLOYMENT COUNSELING AND LITIGATION
The firm's individual employee practice includes the representation of employees in the following areas:

  • litigating discrimination (age, gender, race, religion, creed, national origin, disability, sexual orientation), harassment, retaliation, wrongful discharge, invasion of privacy, defamation, breach of contract, denial of benefits and intentional tort claims;
  • negotiating executive employment agreements and exit/severance packages;
  • evaluating whistleblower strategies and protections;
  • responding to adverse employment actions;
  • obtaining equal pay, earned overtime, and just compensation; and
  • rebutting disability harassment and discrimination.

Such representation includes but is not limited to complaints and appearances before the State Personnel Board, the Public Employee Retirement System, the Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the Public Employee Relations Board, and the Department of Industrial Relations.

PRIVATE AND GOVERNMENT WHISTLEBLOWERS
California taxpayers want their state and federal tax dollars to fund the programs and services they are distributed to fund. Taxpayer dollars fund government entities and also private-sector entities that contract to provide public services. When internal controls or audits do not expose misuse or abuse of public funds, federal and state laws protect whistleblowers who bring the information or the evidence of improprieties to light. The firm counsels on strategies for whistleblowing, and litigates violations of whistleblower rights and protections. Such representation includes, but is not limited to, actions before the California State Personnel Board, Bureau of State Audits, and Department of Justice; and the U.S. Attorney's Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Department of Justice.

EMPLOYMENT INVESTIGATIONS
California law requires employers to conduct prompt, thorough, and neutral workplace investigations when employees make certain allegations of unlawful conduct. The firm performs timely, professional, and thorough investigations for private and public employers. We provide a detailed report of our findings when an investigation concludes.

The firm represents individuals and groups in consumer matters, including: breach of contracts for services; enforcing product warranties; challenging unfair or deceptive sales practices; purchasing motor vehicles; handling debt collection matters; and identity theft issues.

GENERAL BUSINESS DISPUTES
The firm represents businesses in contract disputes, commercial lease and property disputes, unfair competition, and other business claims, including misrepresentation, fraud, concealment, conversion, misappropriation of trade secrets, and breach of fiduciary duty.

PROFESSIONAL LICENSING ISSUES

PERSONAL INJURIES
Every year, thousands of people are injured by accidental events and unintentional injuries.  Such injuries are the fifth leading cause of death in the U.S.  Such injuries can permanently alter a victim's life as well as the lives of his or her family members.

Car accidents are the cause of death of significant numbers of Americans aged two to 33.  This is not surprising as our road ways are increasingly congested with drivers who are aggressive, distracted, tired, and impaired.  Cell phone use is increasingly the cause of auto accidents. In fact, statistics show that Auto accidents frequently leave victims with significant medical bills, emotional suffering, lost income, and possibly permanent disabilities and impaired future earning ability.  We understand the complexities that auto accidents entail, and can help you through the legal and insurance matters to determine who is at fault.
